Act 80 schedule today, so we only had the equivalent of one full period. Students continued work on the Net Ionic Equations POGIL activity.
Class began with a 20 question quiz on naming & writing chemical formulas. Students have an opportunity to retake a similar quiz to demonstrate improvement; this quiz will be administered Friday at a time agreed upon by both the student and myself.
We continued our discussion of chemical equations...writing, balancing, classifying & predicting products of reactions. There will be a unit quiz on Monday covering writing, balancing & classifying chemical reactions.
We reviewed the practice nomenclature worksheets; quiz on nomenclature & formula writing tomorrow.
Online Practice Exercises (Naming & Writing Chemical Formulas)
Use these sites to help you practice your naming/writing skills. A note of fair warning...some examples from these sites may use ions that we have not specifically discussed (for instance, phosphite or hydrogen sulfate). Don't fear that which you have not explicitly studied...use what you KNOW about the PATTERNS we've discussed in naming and try them (you may just impress yourself!)
We then began a POGIL activity investigating the processes of oxidation & reduction
