Today was a work day on the Specific Heat of Metals Lab; after a brief intro/refresh on the format that is expected in writing up the results, students were given a work period to complete their lab calculations/write-ups.
HW:
Students took their unit assessment on Describing Matter. Remaining time was spent discussing the calculations/analysis write-up that needs to be completed for the Specific Heat of Metals Lab.
HW - For Monday, bring your lab data/calculations, textbooks and headphones. Students worked very diligently today (with a shortened Clubs schedule period) to complete measurements for multiple metals in the Specific Heat of Metals lab activity. Calculations with these measurements will be completed as part of a laboratory write-up that will be discussed over the next couple of days.
HW - Tonight's focus should be on preparing for tomorrow's test; the lab calculations can help you review the heat portion of the test, but be sure to study the other unit material as well. Students took their Weekly Element Quiz on the Inner Transition Metals & "Other Metals" groups.
HW: Bring headphones to class on Thursday Today students worked on conversion problems (Metric-Metric & Metric-English Conversions) using equivalent values to create conversion factors.
After wrapping up the Significant Figures & Measurements POGIL activity in small groups, we reviewed the sig fig rules for 0's and practiced identifying sig figs in measurements. We also reviewed the rounding guidelines for calculations involving addition, subtraction, multiplication and division using significant figures.
Homework: Watch assigned videos on EDpuzzle pertaining to Metric Conversions and Metric-English Conversions |
