PhET Isotopes & Average Atomic Mass wrap-up; we focused on the last page of the packet in particular to understand how a qualitative prediction of the average atomic mass can be made by examining the percent abundances of each isotope.  We defined average atomic mass as the weighted average of an elements' isotope masses based on their relative abundances.  Students were then provided with a sheet of practice calculations to reinforce their understanding.

HW
  • Continue practicing Average Atomic Mass calculations as needed until you feel confident with the problem solving process
  • Watch the EDpuzzle video "Electromagnetic Radiation & Light Characteristics"
