Today we examined the effect individual vs. group work has on confidence of product produced and the quality of that product.  We also discussed the importance of developing process skills besides just content knowledge...things like communication, leadership, organization, problem solving, etc.  The Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) method was introduced.
We also began our discussion of laboratory safety, starting with the most important consideration...eye safety.  A demonstration of the destructive effect of chemicals on the eyes was performed using cow eyes and concentrated sulfuric acid; a summary of this demo can be seen in the video at left.
