Continued our discussion of VSEPR and determining/drawing molecular shapes.  Discussed Lab 7 further and worked with foam/toothpick models.  Introduced ChemSketch molecular modelling software on the laptops.  Test on Unit 4 is moved to Tuesday, 11/8.

We began by discussing the results of the Unit 3 exam, and talked about the need for time-management on the unit tests to prepare for the actual testing situation in May.  We then continued our discussion of polarity & calculation of dipole moments.

HW: Complete the remaining 2 dipole moment questions from the in-class handout and the first page (Polar Practice) of the packet handed out at the end of class.

 not We continued the discussion of electron distribution (full and abbreviated configurations) and orbital diagrams. We also discussed paramagnetism and diamagnetism. Photoelectron Spectroscopy will not be on Unit 2 Exam; we will return to this topic at a future date.
