Today we discussed indicators and titrations. After solving several titration calculations together, we used an online titration simulation to demonstrate identification of the endpoint of a strong acid/strong base titration using phenolphthalein indicator by the faint pink color. This and other titrations can be performed using the simulation linked here.
The following links can also provide good orientation/practice when it comes to titrations: Narrated & Interactive Titration Tutorial Royal Society of Chemistry Interactive Lab Primer - Titration On Monday, we will complete a titration lab and examine the titration curves of SA/SB, SA/WB, WA/SB & WA/WB titrations. In preparation for this lab, please find chemical/safety data for the following solutions: hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide, acetic acid, ammonium hydroxide, phenolphthalein & methyl orange Leave a Reply. |
